GETTING MY GROOVE BACK...

OK...I admit it...I have been in a funk...just can't seem to get interested in anything since the holidays. I guess it must be post-holiday blues??? I don't know...maybe it's the fact that I go to work in the dark, come home in the dark, eat, sleep, and lay??? Whatever it is...I am deeming myself OUT OF IT...TODAY!! I have the day off......I am hoping the sun will be out and maybe I will be inspired to do something.

Last night, while digging through my stuff to either hook or stitch...something to get me going...I came upon a rug pattern sent to me by my friend, Lori Rippey, Homespun Prims by Lori, last winter. I love this pattern and I love the colors she had chosen for her rug. So I hope you don't mind, Lori...but I am going to use similar colors..(hey I have to have something to get me going). I traced it out on unbleached primitive linen from Dorr Wool and picked out some of the wool. So today...I am restarting my engine, getting my groove back...

Below is Lori's beautiful rug that she hooked last year. It was inspired from an antique rug that is also pictured in "SEASONS AT SEVEN GATES FARM".

The antique "Hearts and Flowers" rug pictured on page 218. Even though the book was first published over 15 years ago..it is still such an inspiration!

That will be a wonderful pattern to get you out of a funk. I always get that way after the holidays, think we just need a brain break for a few weeks to get over all the craziness.

Oh this is just a beautiful pattern. I have seen it on some sites as kits or patterns and thought it looked lovely.
I am NEW to rug hooking.
Have a kit sitting here waiting for the first attempt. Wish me luck.
You made a wonderful choice of design!!!! I love her colors.

Bobbie,
That looks like a fun rug to hook. It goes alot faster if you know what colors of wool you want. Sometimes it takes me a long time to just figure out the colors.LOL!! Have a great day off!

I do love that rug! I've hooked it too, but mine isn't as beautiful as Lori's. I'm sure yours will be. :) Nice to see you back to creating. :)

I remember seeing this rug before and loved it! Seems like a good rug to get you out of your 'funk'!! I hate when that happens!!

That is one gorgeous rug for inspiration! Good luck to you. I tried a small piece of rughooking that I never finished but would like to try again someday - I love how it looks. Just can't pick up another obsession right now though LOL.

I know exactly how you feel! I could not make myself hook on my horse rug, so I finally put it aside, did a couple small cross stitch pieces and am working on some small hooked pieces. I guess I just need to feel as if I am accomplishing something ~ ANYTHING!
I absolutely LOVE that rug and hope to hook it someday. Lori's colors are absolutely perfect.
Pug hugs :)

I get in a funk like that too, hat it when I do that. I have to try real hard to motivate myself, but when I do and get back to "work" I feel 100% better. I have done this same rug, but want to do it again in the colors of the antique rug that is pictured in the book. Can't wait to see yours. Linda
